Kawana maps, [19--?].

Two handwritten maps of the Kawana area by Ruby Lanier's undergraduate student Mike Clark. The 1838-1900 map has a scale of 1:24,000 and the 1900-1925 map's scale is 1:9,600. The later map key contains locations of gravestones, houses, orchards, stores, churches, cemeteries, post offices, and barns. This collection provides insight into the land ownership of the Kawana community, located in Avery County, North Carolina, former Caldwell County.
